Quantaray 500mm f8 Mirror
Most Quantaray lenses were made by Sigma and some were made by Tamron and Tokina. This lens performs like a Sigma Mirror lens. It is reasonably sharp if you can hold it steady. It has the typical ringed bokeh we see from mirror lenses. Contrast is surprisingly high. While it is not a Zeiss or even a Tamron in quality, it is still far better than any of the off-brands flooding the market.

This review is mandatory, I suppose. If you are not aware of this lens' legendary status you must be new to this world. Having said that, it's a legend for good reason.
Macro performance is top notch at maximum magnification of 1:2. If you need 1:1 you must use a matched extension tube.
Performance at distance is top notch as well. This lens is a great general purpose lens. It's soft bokeh makes it a first choice for portraiture.
Tack sharp. Yes it is. From 2.5 up it is tack sharp. If you are picky you may see a slight softening in contrast at f2.5.
Fringing and CA is barely noticeable at close inspection. Tamron's BBAR coating is as good as it gets.
